Very well written text about a very complex subject

This text book is one of those rare things you come across with College Text Books:

One the makes a very complex topic simple to understand.

It lays out a format and content that is easy to read, easy to understand, and makes a professors lecture
crystal clear.

Of course, like most text books - no matter how good they are, the professor has to use it in class.
But - that's out of our control.

A gem I have come across

It's a gem of a book. Beautiful integration of two interrelated aspects which are sadly never covered like they should be - together! The reason why other text books have so far not done it is because of we-know-best attitude of all the grey haired professors from prestigious schools still trying to sell their age old tomes edition after edition with each edition nothing but old one plus some new cool thing those grey haired authors found somewhere.

This is a book for people who really want to 'get' the matter of SCM and OM. Purists can still continue reading books from grey haired authors and keep feeling perplexed and keep trying to knit together content from two fields in their minds all their lives - you guys deserve it!

Cecil and Robert have done a fantastic work here and it merely 490 odd pages. It takes some real ego-constraining to say things in the number pages actually needed without falling prey to the temptation of writing tomes just to make a living. And the book is written from practitioner's mindset. A clear no non-sense approach.

I am blessed to have found this book on Amazon. Sadly when you try searching 'Operation Management' or 'Supply Chain Management' on Amazon search it doesn't turn up at its rightful location (Nr.1). Only when you enter 'Operation supply chain management' do you get it on 5th spot. As I said this book is a gem wallowing in unclear waters.

What a book!!

Reading "Unexpected Journey" is an exciting journey itself. This creative, heart-felt book made me laugh and made me cry. It is a REAL book that isn't afraid to talk about some of the REAL issues that foster and/or adoptive children might face on their own journeys.
Although this narrative was written with these children in mind, I feel that it will be equally important in work with other children; my work focuses on children on the Autism Spectrum and I can definitely see using this book with this special population as well.
I think "Unexpected Journey" will serve as a great 'conversation starter' for many contexts. Imagine this book in the hands of children who are in foster care or who are adopted; what a unique tool for them to have. The text is evocative and the illustrations are simply stunning. I think this book will be a welcome addition to the libraries of families, therapists and organizations alike.
Thank you Ms. Bovingdon and Ms. Dudar for an authentic and courageous book!

"Unexpected Journey"

This is a lovely book. Not just for children who have been through an adoption or foster care journey, but for all children. I imagine this could be very helpful for new adoptive or foster parents to read with the children in their care, or for helping professionals who work with children. I really appreciate how the book so honestly and sensitively touches on the challenges and experiences of children who have had to make transitions from family to family. "Unexpected Journey" is unlike most of the "adoption literature" that is currently available (which in my opinion only promotes an unrealistic and sugar-coated perspective). This book is refreshing, it is real and I would highly recommend it.

"Unexpected Journey" took this reader on an unexpected journey, I laughed and cried and thought Ms. Bovingdon "gets it". Reading "Unexpected Journey" takes the reader on a journey with foster and/or adoptive children, this real book talks about REAL issues for these children. Ms. Bovingdon demonstrates a deep understanding of these children and their journeys and honours them through the entire story. Their story has a voice. This book is written for children but should be read by all who work with these children. Families, therapists and organizations should add this book to their libraries and put one in every child's backpack. I would highly recommend it.

Mamma Mia, love this book!

I'm an "Italian girl", born and bred in Brooklyn, I know my Italian food. I am a foodie and collect a roomful of cookbooks, and love this one along with the best of them. It's hard to explain the appeal of this cookbook. Yes, many recipes "seem" to be a revival of many we know, as one other reviewer chafed, that it's a repeat of the same old recipes with an ingredient changed here or there...well, I had to laugh...it's precisely that "ingredient here or there" that can make or break a dish, change it from ordinary to extraordinary...and Carmine delivers! The Pasta with sausage and broccoli in olive oil and Garlic, sounds like a simple straightforward recipe that's surely been done b/4, but not like this one! Using lots of fresh basil from the garden in summer (or frozen and used in winter), it comes out tasting like heaven and looks likewise and simple to make. It's a great family-style meal to feed a crowd and have made it many times. The recipe can be started ahead of time and finished in just minutes right before serving so it is piping hot and fresh to the table. The pasta and veggie are cooked in the same pot of water. It's just simplicity at its best. I've made shrimp fra diavolo (to eat lighter fare, ha!), it was simpler still. The Marsala dish uses a basic brown gravy recipe at back of book. I made a larger amount of the gravy one day, froze it into individualized portions for sev'l meals, and can take one out whenever the Marsala mood strikes--half the work is already done saving time and effort. This "cook once--eat many times" strategy is a Godsend when you are short on time but not appetite! I try to do this in general whenever I can. I even make extra of Carmine's toasted bread crumbs (with their blend of simple ingredients "here & there" again) to freeze; it is so tasty, I could make a meal out of just that. I look forward to trying many other dishes. This Foodie feels like I have found a hidden jewel. Great for beginners as well as advanced cooks.

Best Cookbook Ever

This is the best cookbook I have ever owned. The recipes are super easy to follow. So far I've made 3 recipes from this book and I have to admit, they were as good as the restaurant. When I tried the first recipe (Rigatoni Country Style), I thought to myself "I got lucky". But then when the Meatballs turned out delicious and the Chicken Scapariello was outstanding, I realized "this cookbook is foolproof". So, to all of you Italian food lovers out there, get your hands on this book. You won't be disappointed.

I love Carmine's -- it is my favorite restaurant in the city. I am not an italian cook, so I approached this cookbook with a fair amount of trepidation....However, my worries were unfounded. This is such a beautiful and easy to use cookbook. The directions are so clear, and everything has been available at my local grocery story. I am such a novice, honestly, I had to go to customer service to find the prosciutto. I've been cooking my way through the cookbook and my family has loved it. Many thanks to Carmines for helping me to make all these wonderful dishes at home.

Singer brings to light the author's skillful and inventive methods for perceiving and interpreting reality, including ideal forms of friendship, and his success in exploring the pervasive moral problems that people face throughout their existence.

Very good philosophical novel.

George Santyana was an important professor at Harvard around 1900 and an philosopher, said to have influenced such notables as Bertrand Russell, T. S. Eliot, Robert Frost, Gertrude Stein and, W. E. B. Du Bois. This book was a bestselling novel when it was published in 1935. It gives a good description of upper class life in Boston around 1900 and has many excellent characterizations. It also has some very insightful philosophy. A long, slow read if you're used to modern novels, but well worth it, though the ending seems a little weak to me. I was most impressed with some of the philosophical insights. It's one of my favorite novels.

Much "warmer" than PERSONS AND PLACES, this one really lets you know who Santayana was, and how he saw these United States, so unique sometimes, and so disappointing at others
