By 1935, Republic had become a studio and released its first movie, Westward Ho! starring a young John Wayne, who would stay with Republic for the next 17 years. Republic would go on to produce highly successful Westerns starring singing cowboys Gene Autry and Roy Rogers as well as serial adventure series. The studio cranked out so many exciting (not to mention money-making) serials that it became known as "The Thrill Factory." Occasionally, Republic would produce and distribute "A" features, such as Macbeth and The Quiet Man, but it was the "B" Westerns and adventure serials that they knew best how to produce and market. Until its demise in 1959, Republic fed hungry moviegoers with a steady diet of "B" Westerns, serials, dramas, series pictures and musicals. The Republic Pictures Checklist provides a full listing of Republic releases, with plot synopses, release dates, alternate titles, chapter titles and awards. All of Republic's output, including documentaries and training films, is included.

Republic Pictures rises from the Ashes in this book

This book written by Len D Martin is an invaluable source for checking out the movies from this studio. All the movies are documented here including the serials, cartoons and short subjects. But it's the movies that count.
Don't expect this to be like the books "The MGM Story, The Paramount Story or books like that.Those were from major studios and produced thousands of movies. This is a paperback with only a handful of photo's.But it does have all movies produced by this studio with a list of stars that appeared in the movie with a synopsis. It also gives some interesting notes as to what was the first movie made by the studio and last plus things like why John Wayne left the studio after 17 years.
I have been looking for a book like this for years on Republic Pictures and found it by accident on the amazon website.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great Basic Information

I have wanted a checklist of Republic Pictures products for some time. I was hoping that Jack Mathis would be able to finish his last book on the films of Republic but he died and left the material he was working on to the library at BYU. Since it is doubtful that Mathis' work will ever be published in my lifetime, I ordered this book. I have enjoyed browsing through it.

Basic and fundamental, yes, but surprisingly thought-provoking and informative

What we have in this easy-to-dismiss book (because of its cutesy title and unorthodox shape) is a collection of remarkably interesting, in some instances valuable insights or explanations provided by the co-authors, Michael W. Preis and Matthew Frederick, who presumably learned more than 101 "things" (a useless word when you think about it) within and beyond a business school community. Preis and Frederick stick to business basics with this approach: following an assertion ("X is...." or "Y is not necessarily...."), they provide a brief but insightful delineation that corrects or modifies a misconception. For example:

"Not all capital is economic." (#5)

"A mission or vision statement that is impossible to disagree with might not be saying much of significance." (#15)

"Cannibalize your own sales." (#27)

"Profitable, fast growing companies can be chronically short of cash." (#38)

"Promoting the best performer to manager is often a mistake." (#67)

"Sacrifice the trivial few for the vital many." (#77)

"Obsolete does not always mean useless." (#81)

I perused this book in a Barnes & Noble. I read up to the 70th point. I don't have time for a full on review but I just wanted to inform potential readers that it is in fact an excellent resource especially for people who are into business and entrepreneurs.

I was worried that too many statements would've been too plain or general, albeit some were, most were very interesting things to note.

I'm going to look up on my iPad if there's an ebook version.

Business 101 and much more

This book is an excellent primer if you, like me, wished you had taken a Business 101 course but never got around to it. It is part conventional wisdom and part how to adapt to an ever-changing world.

Right from the start, the most startling realization is that the term "business" is simply a collection of many interconnected subjects such as accounting, marketing, finance, organizational behavior, etc.

Some of my favorite bits of wisdom include: There's a trolley every 15 minutes. (i.e. It's better to wait for a good business opportunity than to invest your time and money in a bad one out of fear.) People buy copy machines because they need copies, not because they want a copy machine. (i.e. People buy things to solve problems so sales should primarily address the problem and not the product.) Hire your own boss. (i.e. Being good at a particular task rarely means you'd be good at managing a group performing the same task.)

The best advice is probably "If you want to be a good leader, you must be a good reader." This statement attests to the ever-important skill of adaptability and ongoing education.

I have read the book through once, & I am about to start reading it for the second time. It is absolutely an AMAZING book.
This is Mabels best book ever. Each chapter you read, you can fee.e.e.e.l your heart saying YES.S. & understanding the truths at a deep level. It has blown me away. I will write another review when I can wrap my mind around what Mabel is trying her hardest to get through to us all. We need to think, & feel more with our heart's & keep our intellect & mind out of the way. Yes the cleaning is difficult to do all of the time. I find If I read at least one chapter a day it helps to keep me focused on doing the cleaning. I highly recommend it!!

I just recently "found" Ho oponopono and wanted to learn more about it. I bought 3 books on it. This one, "The Sovereignity of Love" and Zero Limits". Both this book and "The Sovereignity of Love" are fantastic. Both are quick reads with a big impact. I have been putting this into practice in my life and am noticing a difference in both how I feel and how I interact with others as well as how they respond to me. It truly is "easy". I have always known that our outer world is merely a reflection of our inner world. This is a wonderful, uplifting way to clean up your inner world. I realize that it may seem too easy and that change requires a lot of hard work but I am firm believer that letting go is the key. This book shows you how to do that. I highly recommend it

Mabel has a gentle and respectful way of writing. You are not pounded with absolutes but gently reminded of something you forgot as part of your daily self care. This is the second book I've read and I can't wait for her next book.

very good book for numerical methods

I found this book when I was trying to find an in-depth explanation about the step size updating scheme of the RKF45 method. I had seen some other books (Including Numerical Recipes) but this one was the easiest to understand. It has many examples, tips and tricks about practical problems. It is definetely a must for people interested in numerical methods.The only downside of it is its price.

This book is the first one in the history of modern science that presents a naturalistic and scientific exploration of sexuality and anxiety. The thinking is original and is able to avoid falling into a mechanistic or idealistic approach. The experiments are original and as far as I know nobody has repeated them yet. At least nobody has repeated them using the same methodological and theoretical approach. It should be a book read by anybody who is interested in the fields of psychology, medicine and sexuality.
Of note is the fact that all the subsequent studies about sexuality performed by researchers are lacking in freshness , originality, and liveleness. They all sound dry, abstract and mechanical when compared to Reich's work.

A summer trip to Mexico in 2008 set into motion a curiosity that led him to discover Goizean Medical Biomagnetism as a specific healthcare therapy as opposed to a “blind” application of magnetic fields such as magnet therapy or use of magnetic products (i.e. bracelets, shoe inserts, bed mattresses, etc.). On his travels he met a dentist who had given up his successful practice to dedicate himself to Goizean Medical Biomagnetism. The former dentist told Durazo of all the healing and pain reduction he had witnessed in such a short time practicing this biomagnetic science. At one point in his life, Durazo suffered greatly from a chronic health issue and traditional and alternative medicines and therapies did not help. However, when a pair of magnets was placed on his body, he miraculously experienced the cure to his problem within 24 hours. When he returned to the United States, he got in touch with a biomagnetic association but he couldn’t obtain the direction he was seeking. He wanted to study the theories of Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán. He returned to Mexico City to study with him directly and continued to be amazed at the healing results achieved. As his mind expanded to the healing options in the Goizean Medical Biomagnetism field, he also become more aware of the multidimensional aspect of life and reacquainted himself with his interest in holistic health training. He discovered a more efficient method that honors a hands-on approach and trained in the art of Quantum Alphabiotic Alignments.

I thought it would deal more with magnets

I guess I was expecting something different . Just a small portion of the book is dedicated to magnets, and that seemed to be more of an over view. Not that the book has no value, but really just a summary of different holistic techniques that others treat in more depth. It was a quick and fun read, and I enjoyed it and I am sure it is very useful in his practice, but the title led me to think it would be more on magnet therapy.

This book may change your life, it did mine!

"How Magnets Saved My Life" is a 100-page, 12 chapter, eBook written by Moses Durazo, BA, HHP, CBP.

I am always on the lookout for a good natural/holistic resource. I rarely write reviews but I had to with this little jewel. I actually had one of those "aha or nirvana moments" while reading this book. I haven't had one of those in years. It was life changing for me.

I have worked as an RN working ER and then oncology/GI.

Within the first few pages I knew this practitioner had a heart for healing people and that he understood what true health was and how to obtain it. This book is so much more than the title suggests. In a short 100 pages, Moses has outlined what I believe to be a complete and true natural/holistic model for living. I can testify personally to the effectiveness of almost everything written. Just a little effort on your part may very well save YOUR life. And guess what; you don't have to be cut open, poisoned, irradiated to death, get poked with needles, get humiliated, tubes into every orifice, be subjected to endless and useless tests, be ignored, pay out thousands and thousands of dollars and be so sick you wish you were dead anyway.

Moses says in the book, "The level of our collective consciousness is shifting." He is right. There is hope!

For me, the introduction of Quantum Alphabiotic Alignment and Goizean Biomagnetism only makes sense. Just look at our earth. When the magnetic fields of our earth are disrupted, bad things happen; earthquakes, volcanoes, inclement weather, etc. In short, turmoil. We are no different.

I believe if everyone in America read this book and only implemented just a portion of it, it would literally transform our nation from the inside out. I have found the perfect Christmas gift for some very dear friends and family. Moses, please write more.

Goizean Biomagnetism, the future's medicine

Moses Durazo explains the Goizean Biomagnetism in his book in a very easy to understand humane way.
Ten years ago I was in a blink of dying; thirteen days in an induced coma, wick and full of pathogens ready to kill me. Biomagnetism gave me my health back.
I love Moses's book because it is so humane, written as an open window for those who have little knowledge of science, for those who are suffering from incurable diseases and want to gain back their health without poisoning their bodies with drugs or surgeries, also for those who are healthy and want to remain healthy, and for those who are curious about new ways of healing.
The Goizean Biomagnetism is a science that at the moment is being taught to those who have a deeper knowledge of science in several universities around the world.
Goizean Biomagnetism is the future's medicine.
