About the Author

Rodrigo da Fonseca is a film critic for O Globo, the biggest newspaper in Rio de Janeiro. He runs a website called Almanaque Virtual and teaches a film course at the Escola Livre de Cinema de Nova Iguaçu. Fonseca is a member of the Association of Critics of Rio de Janeiro and has written two books.

Rafael Mantesso graduated in Advertising from ESPM in São Paulo. He was previously worked in advertising, but now works as a creative specializing in the field of gastronomy and writes a food blog called Marketing na Cozinha about contemporary Brazilian cuisine.

Eder Chiodetto has a Masters in Communication and Arts from the University of São Paulo (USP). He is an independent curator of photography and video, journalist, photographer and photography critic. He is also the curator of the Collectors Club of Photography at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo – MAM‐SP.

Marcelo Rezende is a former journalist who is now the Director of MAM (Museum of Modern Art) in Salvador.

Kiki Mazzucchelli is an independent curator and writer working between London and São Paulo. She holds an MA in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths College and is currently a PhD candidate at TrAIN (University of the Arts) researching exhibition histories with a focus on Brazilian art.

Paulo Terron is editor at Rolling Stone, Brazil.

Carolina Chagas is a freelance journalist and writer with a degree in Communication and Semiotics from PUC São Paulo. She is also a food writer. She has previously worked for the Estado deSão. Paulo, the Jornal da Tarde, FSP and is Editor of Abril.

Alcino Leite Neto (1959) is a Brazilian journalist, critic and editor, publisher of Três Estrelas, an imprint of Empresa Folha da Manhã. He writes about cinema and literature for Folha de São Paulo, a Brazilian newspaper where he worked as cultural editor and news correspondent in Paris. He has published several articles and essays in Brazilian books and magazines, and is co‐author of the books Em branco e preto (In black and white, Publifolha) and Memórias do presente (Memories of the present, Publifolha). He lives in São Paulo.

This is a basic, contemporary who's-who in Brazil, a good starting point to learn about the works of many of the country's biggest names. But do not it's a basic guide, so if your knowledge on the country's scene is advanced, skip it and stick to blogs.
